Mobility & Functional Strength Training

Member Only

East 900 South

Service Description

As artists, we often spend long hours hunched over our work, whether at an easel, drawing table, or art desk. Unfortunately, this repetitive posture can lead to strain and injury in the neck, shoulders, back, wrists, and hips. In this hands-on workshop, we'll guide you through a series of targeted strength and stretching exercises designed to prevent pain, improve posture, and enhance overall well-being. Through a combination of gentle stretches and muscle-strengthening techniques, you'll learn how to: Alleviate tension in the neck, shoulders, and back Improve posture and alignment while working Strengthen the muscles that support long hours of creative work Prevent repetitive stress injuries common among artists Incorporate simple stretches and movements into your daily routine to reduce discomfort This workshop is suitable for all levels of artists, whether you're a painter, sculptor, illustrator, or potter. Walk away with practical tools to keep your body strong, balanced, and injury-free—so you can focus on your art, not on pain. We will also be having a potluck! So bring any breakfast food item you would like to share. What’s included: Resistance bands will be provided during class. Each student will receive a print out of exercises/stretches to take home. What to wear: anything goes - all exercises are safe, low impact and won’t require previous experience, flexibility or strength. 1.5-2 hours; meet and mingle for the first 30 min and enjoy potluck food; followed by demonstration/participation in exercises.
