Story

Art Haus was born in 2016 from one woman’s dream and a deep love for creativity, community, and clay. Founded by Stephanie Hillman, a passionate artist and lifelong advocate for the transformative power of the arts, Art Haus began humbly — in a small garage tucked behind a local business in Salt Lake City. With just four pottery wheels, a handful of students, and an even bigger dream, Stephanie set out to create a space where anyone could explore their artistic potential.

From those modest beginnings, Art Haus has grown into one of Salt Lake City’s most inclusive and mission-driven art studios, serving as a creative home for artists of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Stephanie’s vision was never just about making art — it was about building a community where people feel seen, supported, and inspired to express themselves.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Art Haus faced what felt like impossible challenges. Losing their original lease could have marked the end — but instead, it became a new beginning. The Maven District believed in Stephanie’s vision and welcomed Art Haus into their community at one of the toughest times imaginable. That belief, combined with the resilience of the Art Haus team and its students, helped the studio not only survive but thrive.

Today, Art Haus is home to 15 incredible teachers and a vibrant community of over 200 students — and still growing. The studio offers a wide range of classes and workshops in pottery, painting, and other creative disciplines, along with scholarship programs for underprivileged youth and adults who might not otherwise have access to the arts.

At its heart, Art Haus is more than just a studio. It’s a space where creativity meets compassion — where every wheel turned, every brushstroke made, and every shared laugh brings people closer together.
